The Lion Inn on remote Blakey Ridge is a 16th Century freehouse owned and run by the Crossland family since 1980. Located at the highest point of the North York Moors National Park, it stands at an elevation of 1,325 feet offering breathtaking views over the valleys of Rosedale and Farndale.

Open fires burn all day and evening in the ancient fireplaces. The original low beamed ceilings add to the friendly atmosphere of the Inn.
The bar is well known for its good selection of quality real ales which include Black Sheep Best Bitter, Theakston's XB, Black Bull and our award winning Old Peculier, Copper Dragon's Golden Pippin, Morland Olde Speckled Hen as well as regular guest ales. An extensive bar menu is offered including special vegetarian dishes, children's meals and daily Chef's Specials - served all day, every day from 12 noon until 10pm.

For that special occasion, eg anniversaries, Christmas parties, conferences or the special intimate dinner, The Lion Inn has three candlelit á la carte restaurants. Every Sunday a three course Sunday Lunch is served for all the family (with reduced rates for children). Bookings for coach parties are catered for with our Party Menus. The restaurants can get very busy - pre-booking is strongly recommended.

A well-stocked bar Piano Room

The Inn is fully residential with 13 letting rooms. Each room has its own individual character and is equipped with colour TV and tea/coffee making facilities. For that special occassion there is a romantic honeymoon suite complete with four-poster bed. Dogs are allowed in the letting rooms on request and secure storage is available for mountain bikes.

Ideal for that relaxing country break, well away from the hassles of modern life - The Lion Inn is recommended by "The Good Pub Guide", "The Good Beer Guide", "The Good Britain Guide", "AA's Best Pubs & Inns", nominated for "Real Fire Pub of the Year" and awarded "Theakston Acclaimed Purveyor" in recognition of the fine quality of its Old Peculier beer.
